8 Signs You Must Buy A New Air Conditioner

Is your air conditioner malfunctioning? You may be holding off on calling an air conditioning repairman because summer is still months away, but now’s the perfect time to think about getting yourself a new cooling appliance. Summer will soon be upon us, so here are nine signs that it might be time to replace your old cooling machine.

According to air conditioning Brisbane owner Gary Hill, repairing an air conditioner can be quite costly, so it is much more effective to replace an old unit before it breaks down for good.

When these symptoms appear in or on your air conditioner, you need to fix or replace your appliance as soon as possible.

It Doesn’t Turn On

If your air conditioner doesn’t turn on when it’s supposed to in the summertime, then something is wrong with it. This can be without even being switched on, meaning there could also be a problem with the power outlet itself which needs addressing. It may just need a filter change or even some simple plumbing work done for it to function properly again. But if nothing else has worked, you might need to change it out.

It Doesn’t Blow Air

If your AC isn’t blowing any air at all then that’s another sign that something is wrong with it. You can check to see if there are any lights on the inside of the unit that indicate what the problem could be, but regardless it probably needs some major repairs or else a whole new system altogether. If this is happening all summer long, you’ll want to replace it as soon as possible because not only will your house get hot without working AC, but you also run the risk of exposing yourself to mould and other potentially toxic substances if the heat gets out of hand.

The Fans Are Not Working

If the inside or outside fan is not working, this probably means that there’s something wrong with the main switch and it needs to be fixed. But if neither of them is working and you’ve already tried replacing the fuse and turning the circuit breaker off and on again multiple times, then you might need to upgrade your system and buy a new one altogether.

There Is Condensation On The Pipes

If you start noticing condensation gathering around the pipes, then that’s a sign that your system isn’t running as well as it should be. It can also mean that there is too much humidity in your home which could cause mould growth. Replacing an old AC unit with a newer, more modern model will help regulate the humidity levels in your home to prevent this from happening.

The Temperature Is Not Cooling Anymore

If the temperature in your house is not going down when you turn on the AC, then it’s time for a replacement. Remember that an efficient air conditioner will make the whole house feel at least 5 degrees cooler than before – if yours isn’t working properly, simply getting a new unit can have a dramatic effect even if nothing else has been done to it.

There Is A Weird Smell Coming Out Of It

In general, having an older AC unit means that there could be mould and mildew growing inside of it which may cause a weird odour to emerge from it. If this is happening, you might need to have it looked at by a professional to see if that’s the problem. If not, then you could just be due for an upgrade anyway.

You’ve Had To Repair It A Lot

If your AC unit has been giving you problems every single summer and every time something breaks on it, then getting a new one would probably save you a lot of money in the long run because of all the repairs that end up costing more than they’re worth. Unless there’s something seriously wrong with it like rust or mould, don’t bother trying to get parts for it anymore – get rid of it and buy a new one instead!

You Can Hear The Compressor Grinding And Growling

If you can hear a lot of grinding and growling noises coming from your AC’s compressor, then that’s another sign that it may be time to get rid of it. It can also mean that dust has built up around the unit or inside the actual ducts which are restricting airflow – either way, this could cause a breakdown in future if left alone for too long.
