Duplex Stainless Steel’s changing composition is what makes it so popular. Due to its unusual dual microstructural phase, Duplex Stainless Steel Grades are ferritic and austenitic at the same time. Duplex Stainless Steel is one of the most in-demand materials in the market due to its dual structure. Its corrosion-resistant capabilities are accelerated by its austenitic nature, whilst the steel grade’s strength is derived from the iron contained in its chemical composition and its ferritic microstructure.
Super Duplex Stainless Steel & Duplex Stainless Steel Applications
Shipbuilding, heat exchangers, maritime construction, pulp and paper, blast walls on offshore platforms, and pipe systems in chemical tankers are among the other applications.
Duplex Stainless Steel Pipe Fittings Characteristics
In comparison to austenitic and ferritic stainless steels, it has a higher strength.
Corrosion resistant material features come in a variety of shapes and sizes.
Waverley Brownall offers high-quality Duplex and Super Duplex for custom fittings and valves.
Safe for a wide range of applications in a variety of industries
PREN = percent Cr + 3.3x(percent Mo + 0.5x percent W) + 16x percent N, and super duplex is defined as a duplex stainless steel with a Pitting Resistance Equivalent Number (PREN) > 40.

Duplex stainless steel and super duplex stainless steel have similar corrosion resistance to austenitic stainless steel. When duplex steel is exposed to high temperatures above 300°C for an extended period of time, its internal structure changes and its toughness decreases.
The decrease in toughness, on the other hand, does not always alter the material’s characteristics at the working temperature.
Duplex stainless steel offers good mechanical qualities in the temperature range of – 50 °C to 280 °C.
The corrosion resistance grade is recognized in the industry to be represented in terms of the corrosion resistance equivalent value PREN. Pipe Fittings Made of Super Duplex and Duplex Stainless Steel
As a norm, our pipe fittings are made of high-quality 316 stainless steel.
However, with Super Duplex or Duplex Stainless Steels, you will receive all of the material’s qualities as well as a wide range of applications.
