  • Rename the .ini file by right-clicking and selecting Rename. Then add .old to the end of the name so it looks like QBWUSER.ini.old
  • You also need to find and rename the EntitlementDataStore.ecml file.
  • After clicking Close this window and reopen QuickBooks Desktop to allow it to recreate the files.

Solution 4: Reinstall QuickBooks using the Clean Install Tool

  • Open the Start menu by pressing the Windows icon.

  • Open the folder in which your QB installation files are stored, which is usually in the C: drive.
  • Rename the installation folder by adding.OLD to its name and reinstall QBDT.

  • Navigate to > File > back up company file.
  • Now select Create Local Backup. and then click on Options.
  • Choose your Desktop as the location to save the backup.

  • Find the name of the computer’s network location. Pressing Windows + E simultaneously shows this information.
  • Open it. You will find mapped drives as X: Z: Y: etc.
  • The server name that you are looking for has two backslashes: \.
  • Make a note of the server name.
  • Now put the computer server name and shared folder name as \ServerNameSharedFolderName and make a note of the pathname.
  • Open QB and select Open or Restore a Company File.
  • Choose a company file and click on Next.
  • Fill in the UNC path in the file name field and hit Enter.
  • Choose your company file from the list.
  • Return to QB and use some features to Check if the QuickBooks running slow issue has been fixed.

Solution 7: Fix  slow running QuickBooks on Network

To double-check that QB is running slow, you can test your QuickBooks in a multi-user environment. In case performance issues occur when more than 1 person is logged in to the company folder, you should try solution 5. If QB was running slow with only 1 user logged in over the network, then follow the instructions given below.

  • Open the application and press the F2 key.
  • Locate the company data backup folder.
  • Make sure all the users are signed out and exited out of QuickBooks
  • Go to the Windows start menu and select my computer.
  •  Find the file path, click right on the.QBW extension, and copy the file.
  •  Paste it to the desktop.
  •  Open QB and restore the company file saved on the desktop.
  •   Now check if QuickBooks is running slow in multi-user mode.
